HIIT IT!

High Intensity Interval Training will have you feeling like you are going to gargle your heart (as my personal trainer Jillian Michael's says.. okay she's my personal trainer in my mind only)!  I believe the reason why Jillian's workouts are so effective and people who uses her DVDs see awesome results is because she uses this method in her programs.

What is HIIT:

High Intensity Interval Training is a training idea in which low to moderate intensity intervals are alternated with high intensity intervals.  An example is doing squat jumps (high intensity) followed by knee thrusts lower intensity).  Also according to bodybuilding.com, HIIT has been shown to speed up your metabolism which helps to burn more calories throughout the day.

What I love about HIIT:

Weight loss results are amazing!  When I did the 30 Day Shred I lost 11lbs, the following month I did Ripped in 30 and lost 10lbs!  I consider both of these DVDs to be HIIT training. 
You don't need a gym!  You can do HIIT training anywhere.  At home, the break room during your break, or a park.
It requires little time!  You don't have to spend hours in the gym training.  Dpending on the intensity, you can do as little as 8-10 minutes and get results!

What I don't like about HIIT:

It's HARD!!  There is no other way to put it!  HIIT is down right hard (if you're putting full effort to it).  I've been working out for a while now and I still get winded early on doing this type of training.  But the results make that hard feeling so worth it!  

Now, I know it sounds like I've been selling Jillian Michaels DVDs but I just love her workouts and have experienced the results first-hand.  However, you don't have to purchase anything!  You can go on Pinterest or google HIIT exercises to get ideas.  Right now I'm playing around with track workouts which is also a form of HIIT training.
