Becoming a Builder!

"A wise woman builds her home, but a foolish woman tears it down with her own hands" - Proverbs 14:1

I'm sure if all of us women were in a room together we'd all raise our hand if we were asked if we were building our home!  I know I'd quickly raise my hand... But if I did an honest evaluation I can easily point our areas that I've torn down with my own hands!  If I'm not paying attention or yet if I'm not being intentional and purposeful about building my home, about being the best woman, wife, and mother I can be I can find myself in the tearing down category.

It takes strength for us to build our home!  We can't be weak minded or weak hearted.  In fact for us to build our home, it starts in our heart and in our mind.  Most of you probably know I've been all on a quest of building my muscle mass so let's compare building muscles with building our home!

1. Diet
First of all we all know one of the most important steps in building muscles is our diet!  The same goes for building our home.  What we consume on the inside matters, how much we consume matters and how often we can consume matters!  We all know if we eat a lot of junk food, we will not grow muscles and it is the same for our home.
2. Exercise
We can eat properly all day but it is not until we start the process of working out - tearing down old muscle and rebuilding bigger, stronger muscles that we actually see the gains!  Each day we should be working on building our homes.  Building it by speaking life to ourselves and our family, practicing love, kindness and forgiveness!  The more we exercise, the stronger we get.  The more we build our homes and our family, the stronger they get!

Go ahead sweat it out and watch your home sparkle!

3. Rest
When I started seeing results during my weight-loss journey I did not want to stop!  I was always quoting 'no days off'!!  But guess what?  I desperately needed at least one day off!!  We as women tend to go, go, go, rarely taking time for ourselves!  We often forget that we need our REST!  If we do not rest we get burned out and when we get burned out we start to tear down!!  Just like our muscles grow when we allow them to rest, we grow when we rest.  And when we grow, we are able to build our homes more effectively!

Also, rest in the Master's hand!

4. Consistency
The final and another important step to building muscles and building our homes is to be consistent!! One workout or one clean meal will not make anyone healthy and fit.  We have to consistently do this!  Yes we will have off days and days where we consume too much junk but the important part is to get back up and get back on track.  What we do most of the time matters.  We need to push through the sore muscles, keep going when we want to give up and go harder when it gets difficult!  If we stay consistent we will enjoy the fruit of our labor!!

We are what we repeatedly do!

I'm striving to have the attributes of the Proverbs 31 woman!

Sharing is caring!!  What do you do to build your home?  Let's share tips because strong women build each other up!

  1. Love it!! I think showing my family how I desperately wanted to be healthy and happy has helped build a stronger foundation for us! They know how important it is to me and they are now including themselves in a lot of my fitness activities. The most fun is we pick healthy recipes to try every week together as a family and I love it!
