What Are You Doing?

How many times are we asked this question and we downplay what we are actually doing?  I drafted this post a month ago and was reminded about it when someone asked me on Instagram what I did for a living.  I thought about responding that I'm unemployed right not but immediately corrected myself!  I responded,  'I encourage, edify, & exhort people to live their best lives by making healthy living (inside & out) a priority'.  I will always keep this in mind, even as I start my job search because that is what I will always do as it is a part of my purpose.

There have been too many times I've responded with 'the same ole, same ole' or 'nothing much' when asked what I've been up to lately, when I really should respond with: I'm Unapologetically Pursuing Purpose, I'm living my best life and inspiring others to do the same.  I'm letting my light shine, building my confidence, working on being bold, appreciating life... Okay so that would be way too lengthy but you get the point.  We can miss our blessing by downplaying what we're doing.  We can miss an opportunity to encourage others by not sharing what we're doing.  You don't have to go into specifics unless it's someone in your circle who will help hold you accountable!

This could really be another post.. not everyone is for you so be selective with who you share your dreams/plans with!

So what are you doing?  Whatever it is I pray that it is attached to your purpose!  If you haven't discovered your purpose, I must agree with T. D. Jakes - you will find it in your passion.  What are you passionate about?  What do love doing and would even do it for free?  Whatever that is; do that, be that and live that!  I have always been an encourager and last year when I started my weight-loss journey I discovered my passion for all things health and wellness.  Join the two together and once again you will see that I encourage, edify, & exhort people to live their best lives by making healthy living (inside & out) a priority!

What have you been up to?

Unapologetically Pursuing Purpose

"You were put on this earth to achieve your greatest self, to live out your purpose, and to do it courageously." - Steve Maraboli

Are you pursuing {chasing, following, engaging, striving to accomplish) your purpose?  You know, the very reason you are here today.  That yearning that was put in you before you were even in your mother's womb!  Are you exploring that thing that nags you or that thing that tugs at your heart?  Do you question why you have certain desires?  Some of which that may seem crazy?  All of this is attached to your purpose!!

"Purpose isn't easy.  Purpose will challenge you."
- Toure' Roberts

Think about early inventors like Thomas Edison.  What if he didn't explore the thought he had that there might be a better way to have light?  Well of course eventually someone else would have had the same idea, had the courage to explore it and would have achieved that invention.  That's a great example however it's the little things that become great as well!  That thought or desire you have to start your business or go back to school will have the same impact to those around you!  It's challenging to go after your purpose because doing so can make you feel like a fish out of water but accept the challenge!  Walk in faith, walk in who you were meant to be, do those things you were meant to accomplish.  In the end you will win so go for it!

I'm reading a booked called Purpose Awakening by Toure' Roberts and it has truly been a blessing to me and my desire to live with intention!  In the book Roberts says, "Sometimes the things you wish you could change about yourself is the thing God will use to set you on high".  I used to absolutely hate the fact that I am kind and I care too much.  I mean, seriously hate it!  I wanted to be the type of person that will go off on someone in a minute.  You know the people who 'don't take no mess' from anyone!  But that's just not who I am and if I tried to be that person I would never fulfill my purpose.  It took me too long to accept the fact that I am kind, empathetic, nurturing and that I'm like this on purpose!  God made me this way so that I can be the encourager.

In that same chapter (chapter 6) Roberts went on to say, "You were made different to make a difference"!  Have you accepted your uniqueness?  Are you sharpening your uniqueness?  Don't try to fit in or fit the mold you think you need to fit.  You are fearfully and wonderfully made!  Accept it and walk in it.

"Your distinction is the brand that heaven has ordained for you, and when you start embracing it, others will follow suit." - Toure' Roberts

So are you down with U.P.P.?  How are you Unapologetically Pursuing your Purpose?  Make sure this second half of 2014 is purposeful!  Six months down, six months to go.

Speak What You Seek

Happy Saturday!! We are just two days away from the end of the first half of 2014.  As I look over these past months I see the pattern I'm known for.. starting off strong then losing steam or getting bored or moving on to the next 'thing' I'm feeling... in other words not finishing what I start :|.  I've decided that I'm not going to dwell on the negatives!  I'm moving forward, speaking life and taking action!

I'm speaking Psalms 1:3 over my life until I see it (& even after).  I don't want to be unrooted by storms, people's opinions, fear, doubt or anything for that matter.  I want to planted.  I want to be anchored!   I also want to bear fruit in every season of my life - great times, difficult times, when I have money, when I don't, when I'm happy, when I'm sad... I want to bear fruit period.  I want to be prosperous- to flourish, to be successful, to thrive (not just survive), I want to be in the money!

I declare the next half of 2014 (and beyond) will be fruitful and prosperous!  The best is yet to come.

What are you speaking over your life?  Find a Bible verse or a quote that you desire to see in your life, personalize it by adding your name, then speak it everyday!  Of course we need to take action but the action we take will be based on what we believe!  As a man thinks in his heart, so is he (Proverbs 23:7).  Our beliefs are often shaped by what we take in and think about most of the time.  As we speak what we want to see day in and day out along with taking action we will see it manifest!
